Sizing guide

What size heat pump does my pool need?

Different sized pools need different sized pumps. Volume is the starting point, but where the pool sits, the temperature you want and how often you swim all shape the right choice.

What actually decides the size

An undersized unit runs constantly and never quite reaches temperature. An oversized one costs more than it needs to. Getting it right first time is the difference between a pool you use twelve months a year and one you only look at.

Pool volume

The larger the body of water, the more heat is needed to lift and hold its temperature.

Temperature and use

A pool held at 30°C for daily swimming needs more capacity than one kept at 26°C.

Where the pool sits

An exposed, windy or shaded pool loses heat faster than a sheltered, sunny one.

Cover and season

A cover retains heat overnight, so a covered pool can run a smaller unit for less.
